Our client is seeking a midlevel to senior patent litigation associate to join its Intellectual Property & Technology practice in Chicago. The role offers involvement in complex patent disputes involving important products and technologies, with opportunities to contribute across federal district court, International Trade Commission, and Patent Trial and Appeal Board proceedings.
The Work
- Analyze patents and prepare infringement and invalidity contentions in complex patent disputes.
- Help develop case strategy and work with technical experts to assess patent and technology issues.
- Draft briefs and other substantive filings, manage discovery, and prepare witnesses for key stages of litigation.
- Take and defend depositions and contribute to hearings, trial preparation, and related litigation work.
- Represent clients in federal district court matters and, as applicable, proceedings before the International Trade Commission and Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
- Handle disputes involving technologies such as electronic devices, semiconductors, integrated circuits, and mechanical devices, while working directly with clients and colleagues across the firm.
What You Bring
- Approximately four or more years of patent litigation experience; the position is intended for a midlevel to senior associate.
- A degree in computer science or electrical engineering.
- Experience with federal district court patent litigation.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage substantial responsibilities on complex matters and work effectively as part of a team.
- PTAB or International Trade Commission experience is a plus.
- Must be currently licensed or currently eligible to become licensed to practice law in Illinois.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated salary range is $310,000–$435,000, commensurate with experience, and the role is eligible for an hours-based bonus.
