Position overview

Our client is seeking a mid-to-senior-level Intellectual Property Litigation Associate with at least four years of substantive IP litigation experience to join its Washington, DC practice. The team works to enforce and defend clients’ intellectual property rights through complex disputes requiring strategic judgment and technological understanding.

The Work

  • Contribute substantively to intellectual property disputes in federal district court and, where applicable, International Trade Commission proceedings.
  • Develop and execute litigation strategies to enforce or defend clients’ intellectual property rights, working across the life cycle of significant assets.
  • Research and analyze complex legal and technical issues, and prepare clear, persuasive written work product for litigation matters.
  • Work on disputes involving patents, copyrights, trademarks, rights of publicity, trade secrets, and related intellectual property issues.
  • Engage with matters across life sciences, consumer goods, and high technology, applying legal analysis to varied subject matter and industries.
  • Contribute to litigation with trial and appellate dimensions while working collaboratively with attorneys across a broad IP and technology practice.

What You Bring

  • At least four years of substantive intellectual property litigation experience.
  • Experience with federal district court litigation and/or International Trade Commission proceedings.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and creatively while contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent academic credentials and strong professional references.
  • Currently licensed, or eligible to become licensed, to practice law in the District of Columbia.
  • A degree in computer science, electrical or mechanical engineering, mathematics, physics, software programming, life sciences, or a related field is preferred.
