A nationally recognized energy practice is seeking a 2–3 year associate for its Seattle team. This role offers a varied mix of regulatory, project development, and transactional work as data-center demand and investment in energy infrastructure continue to grow.
The Work
- Advise energy-sector clients on Western state energy regulation and policy, with occasional matters involving other state and federal frameworks.
- Support developers, independent power producers, market participants, and utilities in regulatory proceedings, compliance matters, and interactions with agencies.
- Work on transmission and grid infrastructure matters, utility ratemaking, and change-of-control proceedings.
- Assist with interconnection and large-load issues, including complex energy needs associated with data centers.
- Support regulatory matters involving natural gas infrastructure, climate considerations, and environmental attributes of power supply.
- Contribute regulatory analysis and diligence to energy infrastructure transactions, including legal research, filings, and client memoranda.
What You Bring
- Two to three years of relevant experience in energy regulation, project development, or energy infrastructure matters.
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to practice in California or another relevant U.S. jurisdiction.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, including the ability to prepare clear regulatory filings and client memoranda.
- Experience with electric or natural gas regulation or infrastructure is valued; large law firm, government agency, or energy industry experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with interconnection, grid infrastructure, or energy project development is beneficial.
- Interest in the intersection of regulation, climate, infrastructure investment, and emerging energy demand, including data centers.
- Familiarity with hydropower licensing or other energy infrastructure permitting is beneficial but not required.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated annual salary range is $215,000–$290,000, and eligible full-time employees may also qualify for an annual discretionary bonus.
