Our client is seeking an associate to advise digital health and life sciences organizations on the regulatory, data protection, and AI issues shaping their products and operations. Based in San Diego, this role combines counseling and transactional work for healthcare providers, technology companies, and other organizations navigating complex and evolving requirements.
The Work
- Counsel digital health companies, healthcare providers, and other organizations on healthcare regulatory and data protection matters.
- Advise clients on privacy obligations under HIPAA and CCPA/CPRA, applying complex requirements to their business and operational needs.
- Help clients assess and address legal issues arising from evolving artificial intelligence laws and digital health activities.
- Address healthcare fraud and abuse requirements, including the Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute, in client counseling.
- Support healthcare regulatory and data protection work in connection with transactions, coordinating across relevant practice areas as matters require.
- Take an active role in driving matters forward, managing multiple projects and deadlines, and communicating directly with clients.
What You Bring
- At least four years of relevant experience advising companies operating in the digital health space.
- Law firm experience and a record of high academic achievement.
- Experience counseling healthcare providers, digital health or technology companies, or other organizations on healthcare regulatory matters.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA, CCPA/CPRA, and healthcare fraud and abuse laws, including Stark and the Anti-Kickback Statute.
- Experience with data protection and AI-related legal matters, including developing or evolving regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills and the ability to manage competing projects and deadlines.
- A proactive approach to leading matters with minimal supervision.
