Our client is seeking an attorney with 3–6 years of relevant experience to join a nationally recognized FERC regulatory practice. The role is based in Washington, D.C., preferred, with Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco also considered, and combines sophisticated federal energy regulation with expanding data center and energy infrastructure work.
The Work
- Advise electric and natural gas utilities, energy developers, and market participants on matters arising under the Federal Power Act and Natural Gas Act.
- Represent clients in FERC regulatory proceedings, develop filings and supporting legal analysis, and manage interactions with the agency.
- Work on electric transmission rates and incentives, including regulatory issues affecting transmission infrastructure.
- Support interconnection and large-load matters, including complex energy needs associated with data centers.
- Address wholesale energy market issues and natural gas pipeline certification, rate, and compliance matters.
- Assist with the regulatory aspects of energy infrastructure transactions and collaborate across practices on infrastructure and energy-transition matters.
What You Bring
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to practice in the relevant U.S. jurisdiction.
- Three to six years of relevant legal experience, including meaningful experience with FERC regulatory matters.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, including the ability to prepare clear and persuasive regulatory filings.
- Experience with electric and/or natural gas regulatory work.
- Large law firm or government experience, including at FERC or a state commission.
- Familiarity with interconnection issues or energy infrastructure development; hydropower licensing experience is beneficial but not required.
- Interest in work at the intersection of regulation, infrastructure investment, and emerging energy demands, including data centers.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated annual salary range is $215,000–$315,000; eligible full-time employees may also have access to benefits and an annual discretionary bonus.
