Position overview

Our client’s multidisciplinary AI, cybersecurity, and data privacy practices help organizations navigate fast-changing legal and technology landscapes. This Washington, D.C. opportunity offers associates meaningful work advising clients on incidents, investigations, compliance programs, and transactions involving emerging technologies and sensitive data.

The Work

  • Advise clients on preparedness for and responses to AI, cybersecurity, and privacy incidents, helping address legal and regulatory issues as they arise.
  • Assist with regulatory defense investigations involving AI, data privacy, and cybersecurity matters.
  • Help clients build legally defensible AI, data privacy, and cybersecurity programs in the United States, including programs addressing NIST, CCPA, BIPA, HIPAA, WMHMDA, and other state and federal privacy laws.
  • Conduct AI, data privacy, and cybersecurity due diligence and provide M&A support, identifying and addressing relevant issues in transactions.
  • Draft AI, privacy, and cybersecurity policies and negotiate data processing and related agreements.
  • Work across multidisciplinary AI, cybersecurity, data privacy, and technology matters as clients respond to evolving legal and regulatory requirements.

What You Bring

  • Two to six years of relevant experience, including work involving data privacy, AI, and cybersecurity matters.
  • Experience advising clients on incident preparedness or response, regulatory investigations, compliance programs, M&A diligence, or related technology matters.
  • Ability to draft AI, privacy, or cybersecurity policies and negotiate data processing or related agreements, as applicable to prior experience.
  • Familiarity with relevant U.S. state and federal privacy laws and frameworks, including NIST, CCPA, BIPA, HIPAA, or WMHMDA, is valuable.
  • Strong interest in AI, data privacy, and cybersecurity.
  • High academic achievement and solid law firm experience are preferred.
  • Federal government or law enforcement experience involving AI, cybersecurity, or data privacy—including non-legal experience—is welcome.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated starting base salary is $260,000–$420,000, and the position may be eligible for a discretionary year-end bonus.
