Position overview

Our client’s nationally recognized Government Contracts practice is seeking a midlevel associate in Anchorage to advise contractors, grant recipients, and Alaska Native Corporation enterprises across the full lifecycle of federal procurement and grant funding.

The Work

  • Counsel government contractors and grant recipients, including Alaska Native Corporation entities, on federal procurement regulations, compliance obligations, and federal assistance programs.
  • Represent clients in bid protests, contract claims, and other disputes before the U.S. Government Accountability Office, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, Boards of Contract Appeals, and other tribunals.
  • Assist with False Claims Act matters involving federal procurement and grant funding, including government investigations, qui tam actions, civil litigation, and related compliance and enforcement proceedings.
  • Conduct internal investigations and compliance reviews concerning the use of federal funds, and advise on agency oversight, Inspector General inquiries, audit findings, and potential suspension or debarment.
  • Guide clients through grant lifecycle issues, from proposal strategy and award negotiation to post-award administration, cost allowability, audit requirements, and closeout under 2 C.F.R.
  • Part 200.
  • Support transactional matters and M&A due diligence involving government contracts, ANC subsidiaries, and federal grant funding.
  • Advise Alaska Native Corporation clients and subsidiaries, including SBA 8(a) participants, on eligibility, regulatory compliance, sole-source and competitive procurement, joint ventures, mentor-protégé arrangements, and affiliation considerations.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across offices on complex regulatory, compliance, investigation, and litigation matters, including potential federal construction contracting issues.

What You Bring

  • Three to six years of experience in government contracts and/or federal grants counseling, investigations, or litigation.
  • Experience advising on federal procurement or federal financial assistance programs.
  • Familiarity with the FAR, DFARS, federal procurement processes, and the Uniform Guidance at 2 C.F.R.
  • Part 200.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to handle complex regulatory and dispute matters.
  • Experience with or exposure to SBA small business programs, including the 8(a) Business Development Program, mentor-protégé arrangements, or joint venture structures.
  • Excellent academic credentials and admission to the bar in the jurisdiction where you will practice, or the ability to obtain admission promptly.
  • Experience advising Alaska Native Corporations, tribal entities, or other Native-owned businesses, or familiarity with ANC-related eligibility, affiliation, and procurement issues, is preferred.
  • Experience with federal grant compliance, cost principles, audits, OIG inquiries, agency oversight, GAO or tribunal proceedings, False Claims Act issues, or suspension and debarment is preferred; construction contracting experience is also valued.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated annual salary range is $147,000–$325,000, with actual pay adjusted for job-related factors; eligible full-time employees may also receive benefits including medical, dental, vision, retirement, paid time off, and an annual discretionary bonus.
