Position overview

Join a collaborative real property practice advising clients on commercial and public construction projects. This Portland-based opportunity brings together hands-on contract work, client counseling, and construction disputes, with meaningful responsibility and partner collaboration.

The Work

  • Draft and negotiate construction and design agreements, managing transaction work with limited supervision and attention to project-specific business and legal needs.
  • Advise clients on contract terms and risk allocation for commercial and public construction and design matters.
  • Work with custom agreements and industry-standard forms, including AIA, AGC, and DBIA contracts.
  • Support a high volume of construction and design contract transactions for a diverse range of clients.
  • Assist with public and private construction claims, dispute resolution, and litigation arising from construction projects.
  • Collaborate directly with experienced partners and clients across complex construction and development matters in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

What You Bring

  • At least three years of experience with construction and design contracts and related litigation in a mid-size or large law firm or an in-house legal department.
  • Active Oregon bar admission and residency in Oregon for the Portland-based position.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, including the ability to manage construction transactions.
  • Experience working with AIA, AGC, and DBIA construction contract forms.
  • Experience supporting or handling construction-related claims or litigation.
  • Strong client service orientation, responsiveness, and verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality work under partner supervision and direction.

Why Consider It

Build a practice that spans construction contracting, client counseling, and disputes rather than focusing on a single phase of a project.

Associates work closely with experienced partners and clients and receive meaningful responsibility and hands-on experience early in their careers, with mentorship and professional development support.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated annual salary range is $147,000–$325,000, based on job-related factors; full-time attorneys may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and a benefits package.
