Position overview

Our client is seeking a 3–6 year associate or counsel to join its Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) electric practice in Washington, D.C. The team represents a broad range of energy companies in regulatory proceedings and advises on the regulatory dimensions of energy and utility transactions and projects.

The Work

  • Advise energy company clients on federal energy regulatory compliance and requirements before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
  • Prepare and support rate-related filings, helping clients address regulatory and commercial issues arising from their businesses.
  • Represent and advise clients in litigation and other proceedings before FERC.
  • Counsel on energy regulatory aspects of financing, developing, acquiring and disposing of energy and utility assets.
  • Work on regulatory matters involving investor-owned utilities, independent transmission and generation developers, energy traders and large load customers.
  • Advise on development of data center and other large load projects, including related energy regulatory considerations.

What You Bring

  • 3–6 years of experience relevant to FERC electric regulation.
  • Experience advising on federal energy regulatory compliance matters.
  • Knowledge of rate-related filings and the regulatory issues affecting energy companies.
  • Experience with litigation or proceedings before FERC.
  • Ability to advise on energy regulatory aspects of financing, development, acquisition or disposition of energy and utility assets.
  • Strong legal analysis and communication skills for work with energy company clients on complex regulatory matters.

Compensation & Benefits
