Our client is seeking a transactional tax associate in New York City to work on energy tax-credit transactions alongside lawyers in project finance, corporate, debt, and securitization. The practice serves companies developing and financing evolving energy technologies and infrastructure.
The Work
- Work on transactions involving federal energy tax credits, including credits under Internal Revenue Code Sections 45, 45X, 45Y, 48, and/or 48E.
- Contribute to tax equity and tax-credit transferability transactions as part of the energy and climate solutions practice.
- Collaborate closely with project finance colleagues providing corporate, debt, and securitization input on transactions.
- Work within a broader practice spanning project development and commercial transactions, project finance and securitization, corporate finance, and energy regulatory matters.
- Gain exposure to energy-sector work involving nuclear and enhanced geothermal technologies, solar and battery projects, and evolving energy-supply models for large technology companies.
What You Bring
- One to three years of law firm experience in transactional tax.
- Experience with a variety of transactions involving one or more of the specified energy tax credits is ideal.
- Experience with tax equity and/or tax-credit transferability transactions is relevant to the role.
- Transactional tax generalists interested in developing a focus on energy tax matters may also be considered.
- Interest in working collaboratively with lawyers across project finance, corporate, debt, and securitization disciplines.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated salary range is $225,000–$260,000 based on year classification, and discretionary merit bonuses may be awarded.
