Our client is seeking a transactional tax associate with 1–3 years of law firm experience to join its energy and climate solutions group in San Diego. The role offers hands-on exposure to energy tax credit transactions and close collaboration with lawyers across project finance, corporate, debt, and securitization practices.
The Work
- Work on transactions involving federal energy tax credits under Internal Revenue Code Sections 45, 45X, 45Y, 45Z, 48, and/or 48E.
- Contribute to tax equity and tax credit transferability transactions supporting energy projects and businesses.
- Collaborate closely with project finance colleagues and lawyers providing corporate, debt, and securitization input on transactions.
- Support a broader range of energy-sector work, including project development and commercial transactions, project finance and securitization, corporate finance, and energy regulatory matters.
- Gain exposure to clients and projects spanning nuclear and enhanced geothermal technologies, solar and battery development, and evolving energy supply models for hyperscalers.
What You Bring
- 1–3 years of law firm experience in transactional tax.
- Experience with transactions involving one or more of the energy tax credits under Sections 45, 45X, 45Y, 45Z, 48, and/or 48E is preferred.
- Experience with tax equity and/or tax credit transferability transactions is preferred.
- Transactional tax generalists interested in specializing in energy tax may also be considered.
- Ability to work collaboratively with lawyers across project finance, corporate, debt, and securitization disciplines.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated salary range is $225,000–$260,000 based on year classification, and discretionary merit bonuses may be awarded.
