Our client is seeking a transactional tax associate to work on energy tax credit matters at the intersection of project finance and emerging energy technologies. This San Francisco opportunity offers collaboration across a multidisciplinary team working with companies developing and financing new energy projects.
The Work
- Work on transactions involving energy tax credits under Sections 45, 45X, 45Y, 45Z, 48, and/or 48E of the Internal Revenue Code.
- Contribute to tax equity and tax credit transferability transactions supporting energy projects.
- Collaborate closely with project finance lawyers and colleagues providing corporate, debt, and securitization input.
- Support work across project development and commercial transactions, project finance and securitization, corporate finance, and energy regulatory matters.
- Gain exposure to matters involving solar photovoltaic and battery projects, as well as companies developing nuclear and enhanced geothermal technologies.
- Work within an energy practice serving clients pursuing new approaches to energy supply, including hyperscalers.
What You Bring
- One to three years of law firm experience in transactional tax.
- Experience with transactions involving one or more of the energy tax credits identified in the role description.
- Experience with tax equity and/or tax credit transferability transactions is sought.
- Transactional tax experience that can support a move toward an energy-focused specialization may also be considered.
- Ability to work collaboratively with lawyers across project finance, corporate, debt, and securitization disciplines.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated salary range is $225,000–$260,000, based on year classification, and discretionary merit bonuses may be awarded.
