Position overview

Help develop tax solutions for evolving energy projects as part of an integrated legal team working across project finance, corporate, debt, and securitization matters. This Palo Alto opportunity offers hands-on exposure to transactions involving federal energy tax credits, tax equity, and transferability.

The Work

  • Work on a variety of transactions involving federal energy tax credits under Internal Revenue Code Sections 45, 45X, 45Y, 45Z, 48, and/or 48E.
  • Contribute to tax equity transactions supporting energy projects and companies across the sector.
  • Work on tax-credit transferability transactions as part of the financing and execution of energy investments.
  • Collaborate closely with project finance colleagues providing corporate, debt, and securitization input.
  • Support work connected to project development, commercial transactions, project finance, securitization, corporate finance, and energy regulatory matters.
  • Engage with matters involving a range of energy technologies and businesses, including nuclear and enhanced geothermal companies, independent power producers developing solar and battery projects, and technology companies pursuing new energy-supply models.

What You Bring

  • One to three years of law firm experience as a transactional tax associate.
  • Experience with transactions involving one or more of the energy tax credits under Sections 45, 45X, 45Y, 45Z, 48, and/or 48E.
  • Experience with tax equity transactions and/or tax-credit transferability transactions.
  • Ability to contribute to transactional tax work within a broader project finance practice.
  • Tax generalists with transactional experience who are interested in specializing in energy tax may also be considered.
  • Strong collaborative approach suited to working closely with lawyers across corporate, debt, and securitization disciplines.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated salary range is $225,000–$260,000 based on year classification, with discretionary merit bonuses potentially available.
