Position overview

Our client is seeking a transactional tax associate with 1–3 years of law firm experience to join its energy and climate solutions group in Boston. You will work on tax matters tied to energy transactions and collaborate with colleagues across project finance, corporate, debt, and securitization practices. Transactional tax generalists interested in specializing may also be considered.

The Work

  • Work on transactions involving tax credits under Sections 45, 45X, 45Y, 45Z, 48, and/or 48E of the Internal Revenue Code.
  • Contribute to tax work in tax equity and transferability transactions involving energy projects.
  • Collaborate closely with project finance lawyers and colleagues providing corporate, debt, and securitization input.
  • Support work across project development and commercial transactions, project finance, securitization, corporate finance, and energy regulatory matters.
  • Engage with a varied energy-sector client base, including emerging nuclear and enhanced geothermal companies, independent power producers developing solar and battery projects, and global technology companies pursuing energy supply arrangements.

What You Bring

  • 1–3 years of law firm experience in transactional tax.
  • Experience working on transactions involving tax credits, including one or more of Sections 45, 45X, 45Y, 45Z, 48, or 48E.
  • Experience with tax equity and/or tax credit transferability transactions is relevant.
  • Transactional tax generalists interested in developing an energy-focused practice may also be considered.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with lawyers across project finance, corporate, debt, and securitization disciplines.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated salary range is $225,000–$260,000, based on year classification, and discretionary merit bonuses may be awarded.
