Our client is seeking a transactional tax associate with 1–3 years of law firm experience for its Seattle-based Energy and Climate Solutions group. Work alongside project finance colleagues on tax-credit transactions supporting energy technologies and projects, with the opportunity for transactional tax generalists seeking to develop a specialty to be considered.
The Work
- Advise on the tax aspects of transactions involving federal clean-energy credits under Internal Revenue Code Sections 45, 45X, 45Y, 48, and/or 48E.
- Participate in tax equity and tax-credit transferability transactions, contributing to the structuring and execution of energy project financings.
- Collaborate with project finance lawyers providing corporate, debt, and securitization input to integrated transactions.
- Support matters involving photovoltaic and battery projects, including projects being built or acquired by independent power producers.
- Work with clients developing nuclear and enhanced geothermal technologies, as well as companies pursuing new approaches to energy supply.
- Contribute to a broader energy-sector practice spanning project development and commercial transactions, project finance and securitization, corporate finance, and energy regulatory matters.
What You Bring
- 1–3 years of law firm experience in transactional tax.
- Experience working on a variety of transactions involving energy-related tax credits under Sections 45, 45X, 45Y, 48, and/or 48E is ideal.
- Experience with tax equity and/or tax-credit transferability transactions is preferred.
- Transactional tax generalists interested in specializing in energy and climate matters may also be considered.
- Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys across tax, corporate, debt, and securitization disciplines.
- Strong analytical, communication, and transactional skills appropriate to the candidate’s experience.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated salary range is $225,000–$260,000 based on year classification, with discretionary merit bonuses potentially available.
