Position overview

Our client is seeking a transactional tax attorney to join an integrated energy and climate practice, supporting innovative energy companies and complex project finance work in Washington, D.C. This opportunity offers exposure to tax-credit transactions across a rapidly evolving energy sector.

The Work

  • Work on transactions involving federal energy tax credits under Internal Revenue Code sections 45, 45X, 45Y, 48, and/or 48E.
  • Contribute to tax equity and tax-credit transferability transactions for energy-sector clients.
  • Collaborate closely with lawyers handling corporate, debt, and securitization components of project finance matters.
  • Support work spanning project finance, securitization, project development, and commercial transactions.
  • Gain exposure to matters involving solar and battery projects, as well as emerging nuclear and enhanced geothermal technologies.

What You Bring

  • One to three years of law firm experience in transactional tax.
  • Experience with a variety of transactions involving energy tax credits under one or more of sections 45, 45X, 45Y, 48, and/or 48E.
  • Experience with tax equity and/or tax-credit transferability transactions is valued.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with lawyers across corporate, debt, and securitization practices.
  • Transactional tax generalists interested in developing a focus on energy and climate matters will also be considered.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated salary range is $225,000–$260,000, based on year classification, and discretionary merit bonuses may be awarded.
