Our client is seeking a transactional tax associate for its Salt Lake City team, working alongside lawyers across project finance on transactions involving energy-related tax credits. The practice serves companies developing emerging energy technologies, power producers building and acquiring projects, and businesses pursuing new approaches to energy supply.
The Work
- Advise on transactions involving tax credits under Internal Revenue Code sections 45, 45X, 45Y, 45Z, 48, and/or 48E.
- Work on tax equity and tax-credit transferability transactions, contributing transactional tax support as matters are developed and executed.
- Collaborate closely with project finance lawyers providing corporate, debt, and securitization input on integrated transactions.
- Support work for clients across the energy sector, including nuclear and enhanced geothermal companies advancing their technologies.
- Engage with matters involving independent power producers acquiring and building photovoltaic and battery projects, as well as hyperscalers pursuing energy-supply models.
What You Bring
- One to three years of law firm experience in transactional tax work.
- Experience with transactions involving one or more of the tax credits under sections 45, 45X, 45Y, 45Z, 48, and/or 48E of the Internal Revenue Code.
- Experience with tax equity and/or tax-credit transferability transactions is relevant to the practice.
- Transactional tax generalists who are interested in specializing in energy-related work may also be considered.
- Ability to collaborate with lawyers working across corporate finance, debt, securitization, and project finance.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated salary range is $225,000–$260,000, based on year classification, and discretionary merit bonuses may be awarded.
