Position overview

Our client is seeking a mid-level attorney to advise organizations on complex privacy and cybersecurity challenges, from regulatory compliance and preventive risk assessments to breach response, investigations, and litigation. The work reaches clients across financial services, health care, life sciences, technology, and asset management, and involves U.S. and international legal frameworks.

The Work

  • Counsel clients on compliance with U.S. and international data protection and privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA.
  • Draft and review privacy policies, data processing agreements, and cybersecurity protocols tailored to client needs.
  • Analyze regulatory requirements and conduct security risk assessments, recommending practical mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate responses to data breaches and cybersecurity incidents, including investigations and related client guidance.
  • Represent clients in data litigation, regulatory investigations, and enforcement actions, including discovery, motion practice, and hearings.
  • Monitor developments in privacy and cybersecurity law and translate changes into actionable advice for clients.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to implement data protection measures and provide training and guidance to junior associates.

What You Bring

  • Three to six years of relevant experience, including at least three years interpreting and applying privacy regulations.
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and admission in good standing to the New York State Bar.
  • Experience advising on GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and other U.S. or international privacy frameworks.
  • Experience with data litigation, including discovery, motion practice, and hearings, and with managing data breach investigations.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex, large-scale legal matters involving nuanced issues and multiple layers of analysis.
  • Strong legal writing, verbal communication, analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to use AI technologies responsibly and ethically, protect confidential information, verify outputs, identify appropriate use cases, and apply independent legal judgment.

Why Consider It

This role brings together counseling, breach response, risk assessment, and disputes rather than limiting the work to a single stage of privacy matters.

Associates engage with complex issues across several industries, advise on both U.S. and international requirements, collaborate on implementing protections, and contribute to client training and the development of junior colleagues.

Confidentiality
