A confidential Washington, D.C. opportunity offers a mid-level lawyer the chance to advise clients on consequential data protection and cybersecurity issues. Work across incident response, regulatory compliance, and disputes for organizations in financial services, health care, life sciences, technology, and asset management.
The Work
- Advise clients on compliance with U.S. and international data protection and privacy laws, interpreting requirements including GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and other global frameworks.
- Draft and review privacy policies, data processing agreements, and cybersecurity protocols tailored to client needs and applicable requirements.
- Coordinate responses to data breaches and cybersecurity incidents, helping manage investigations and related legal response activities.
- Conduct data-security risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies to address identified legal and operational risks.
- Represent clients in data litigation, including discovery, motion practice, and hearings, and assist with breach-related disputes.
- Represent clients in regulatory investigations and enforcement actions involving privacy, cybersecurity, and data protection issues.
- Monitor developments in privacy and cybersecurity law, collaborate with internal teams on data protection measures, and provide training and guidance to junior associates.
What You Bring
- Three to six years of relevant legal experience, including at least three years interpreting and applying privacy regulations.
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to the District of Columbia Bar in good standing.
- Experience handling complex, large-scale matters involving detailed and nuanced legal issues, preferably in a law firm setting.
- Knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and other U.S. or international privacy frameworks.
- Experience with data litigation, including discovery, motion practice, and hearings, and with data-breach investigations.
- Strong legal writing, verbal communication, analytical, and organizational skills, including the ability to manage priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to use artificial intelligence tools responsibly and ethically, protect confidentiality, verify outputs, assess appropriate use cases, and apply independent legal judgment.

Compensation & Benefits
