Our client is seeking a 3–6 year associate to join a highly experienced team advising leading and innovative companies worldwide on complex regulatory issues involving data use, security, consumer protection, and artificial intelligence. The opportunity may be based in New York City, Washington, D.C., Palo Alto, or San Francisco.
The Work
- Represent companies in high-stakes investigations brought by the Federal Trade Commission and state Attorneys General involving privacy, data security, and related regulatory issues.
- Advise clients on practical approaches to collecting, using, and sharing data while complying with complex privacy laws across global jurisdictions.
- Help clients develop thoughtful business and legal responses to security breaches, including planning for incident-related decisions and obligations.
- Create, enhance, and audit client privacy and cybersecurity policies and programs to support evolving legal and business needs.
- Develop and implement global compliance programs addressing data, privacy, cybersecurity, consumer protection, and AI regulatory requirements.
- Counsel leading and innovative companies on technology-related regulation, including issues involving government oversight and enforcement.
What You Bring
- Three to six years of relevant associate experience in data, privacy, cybersecurity, consumer protection, or related regulatory work.
- Experience or demonstrated interest in technology industries, government regulation of technology, or privacy and data security regulation.
- Knowledge of FTC policy or enforcement concerning privacy and data security is desirable.
- Ability to advise on data collection, use, and sharing and on compliance with complex global privacy laws.
- Strong legal analysis and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective professional relationships.
- Superior academic credentials.
- Familiarity with computer programming, network technologies, database design, or web technologies is a plus; CIPP certification is also a plus.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated salary is $260,000–$390,000 based on year classification, with possible discretionary merit bonuses, plus benefits that include firm-paid CLE, bar review fees, and bar dues.
