Our client is seeking a junior- to mid-level associate to join its Sovereign Finance team in Washington, DC. The practice advises sovereign governments, sub-sovereigns, state-owned enterprises, and international financial institutions on complex transactions across global capital markets.
The Work
- Represent issuers and other market participants in sovereign bond offerings, contributing to transaction execution and related documentation.
- Work on liability management transactions, derivatives, financings, and refinancings involving sovereign and other public-sector clients.
- Assist with sovereign debt restructurings, applying careful drafting and analysis to complex cross-border matters.
- Advise on transactions and strategic assignments involving international financial institutions, including development banks and other multilateral organizations.
- Collaborate directly with clients and counterparties on sophisticated international transactions and help advance matters from analysis through execution.
- Contribute to innovative sovereign finance transactions, including work involving collective action clauses, sukuk bonds, USAID-guaranteed issuances, and diaspora bonds.
What You Bring
- Approximately 3–6 years of relevant legal experience, consistent with a junior- to mid-level associate profile.
- Fluency in both Portuguese and Spanish.
- Experience in capital markets, finance, sovereign debt, project finance, or related cross-border transactional matters.
- Strong drafting and analytical skills, with the ability to contribute to sophisticated transactional work.
- Outstanding academic credentials.
- Must be currently eligible to become licensed to practice law in the jurisdiction of application.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated salary range is $225,000–$310,000, commensurate with experience, and eligibility for an hours-based bonus is available.
