Position overview

Our AmLaw client is seeking a Seattle-based associate with 3–7 years of experience to contribute to high-stakes intellectual property disputes. Work alongside experienced litigators on complex cases in federal court, before the ITC and PTAB, and on appeals involving technologies across multiple industries.

The Work

  • Collaborate with partners on litigation strategy for complex intellectual property disputes in federal district courts, before the U.S. International Trade Commission, and in Patent Trial and Appeal Board proceedings.
  • Research and analyze issues involving patent validity and infringement, IP and antitrust, and technology-related questions arising in broader commercial litigation.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery plans, and other key litigation documents, contributing to matters from early case development through hearings and trial.
  • Prepare for depositions, hearings, and trials by reviewing evidence, developing trial materials, and working with expert witnesses.
  • Handle matters involving technologies and industries such as semiconductors, telecommunications, medical devices, software, fintech, and biotechnology.
  • Support appellate matters and amicus briefs before the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court, while tracking emerging issues such as technology standards and patent misuse defenses.

What You Bring

  • Three to seven years of experience in intellectual property litigation.
  • Experience with patent litigation in federal courts, ITC hearings, and/or PTAB proceedings.
  • A J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and a strong undergraduate and law school academic record.
  • Admission, or eligibility for admission, to the bar in the state where the candidate will work.
  • A degree in the sciences or a technical background, with familiarity with relevant technical subject matter such as semiconductors, software, telecommunications, medical devices, fintech, or biotechnology.
  • Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills, including the ability to develop clear and persuasive litigation work product.
  • Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively on a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced litigation practice.

Compensation & Benefits

The stated annual salary range is $225,000–$330,000, with actual pay adjusted based on job-related factors; full-time employees may be eligible for benefits and an annual discretionary bonus.
