Our AmLaw client is seeking an Oregon-admitted attorney for a flexible, part-time contract engagement supporting a litigation team on real estate and landlord-tenant matters. The work offers direct collaboration with firm attorneys, meaningful client contact, and regular opportunities to appear in court while handling matters remotely when appropriate.
The Work
- Support landlord-tenant matters through multiple stages, including drafting notices, reviewing lease agreements, conducting legal research, and preparing for hearings.
- Advise clients on lease enforcement, evictions, rent disputes, property damage, and related real estate concerns, communicating responsively about their legal needs.
- Attend in-person hearings primarily in Multnomah and Washington counties, with occasional appearances in other Oregon counties; participate in virtual hearings when available.
- Assist with post-judgment proceedings and help move matters forward while balancing competing deadlines across multiple assignments.
- Work directly with firm attorneys and exercise independent judgment in producing thorough, high-quality work with limited supervision.
- Contribute to commercial landlord-tenant disputes and litigation, with potential exposure to issues involving eviction procedures, rent control ordinances, and fair housing laws.
What You Bring
- Active Oregon bar admission and residency in the Portland, Oregon area are required.
- Two or more years of litigation experience, preferably handling landlord-tenant matters; newly admitted attorneys interested in courtroom development are also encouraged to apply.
- Experience with commercial landlord-tenant disputes and litigation is preferred.
- Experience in landlord-tenant legal clinics, property management, or real estate negotiations is valued.
- Familiarity with eviction procedures, rent control ordinances, and fair housing laws is preferred but not required; trial or courtroom experience is a plus.
- Strong writing, legal research, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver quality work with minimal direction are essential.
- Excellent responsiveness, proactive communication, client-service judgment, and the ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines are required.
- Availability for approximately 15–20 hours per week, with hours that may fluctuate or increase, and the ability to attend in-person and virtual Oregon hearings are required.
