Our client is seeking a midlevel associate with 3–6 years of experience to advise contractors, grant recipients, and Alaska Native Corporation enterprises on federal funding matters. In this Portland opportunity, you can work across the lifecycle—from proposals and compliance to investigations, transactions, and disputes.
The Work
- Counsel government contractors on federal procurement regulations, including the FAR, DFARS, and agency supplements, and advise on compliance with federal contracting requirements.
- Represent clients in bid protests, contract claims, and other disputes before the GAO, U.S. Court of Federal Claims, Boards of Contract Appeals, and other tribunals.
- Advise grant recipients throughout the grant lifecycle, including proposal strategy, award negotiation, post-award administration, cost allowability, and closeout under 2 C.F.R.
- Part 200.
- Conduct internal investigations and compliance reviews involving federal funds, and assist clients responding to audit findings, Inspector General inquiries, agency oversight, and potential enforcement action.
- Represent and counsel clients in False Claims Act matters involving federal procurement or grant funding, including investigations, qui tam actions, and civil litigation.
- Support M&A due diligence and transactional work involving government contracts, federal grant funding, and Alaska Native Corporation subsidiaries and affiliated entities.
- Advise Alaska Native Corporation enterprises and subsidiaries on SBA 8(a) program eligibility, sole-source and competitive procurements, joint ventures, mentor-protégé relationships, and affiliation considerations.
- Work with attorneys across offices on complex regulatory, compliance, and litigation matters, including federal construction contracting issues when relevant.
What You Bring
- Three to six years of experience in government contracts and/or federal grants counseling, investigations, or litigation.
- Experience advising on federal procurement or federal financial assistance programs.
- Familiarity with the FAR, DFARS, federal procurement processes, and Uniform Guidance under 2 C.F.R.
- Part 200.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to address complex regulatory and compliance issues.
- Excellent academic credentials.
- Admission to the bar in the jurisdiction where you will practice, or the ability to obtain admission promptly.
- Exposure to SBA small business programs, including the 8(a) Business Development Program, mentor-protégé arrangements, or joint ventures is valuable.
- Experience with Alaska Native Corporations, grant compliance, federal audits, OIG inquiries, bid protests, contract claims, or False Claims Act matters is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits
The stated annual salary range is $147,000–$325,000, adjusted for job-related factors; eligible full-time employees may receive benefits and an annual discretionary bonus.
