Position overview

Our client is seeking an experienced, California-admitted litigator to support ongoing matters for institutional clients in a fully remote contract role. The work averages 30–35 hours per week and combines hands-on responsibility for litigation tasks with access to structured matter resources and training.

The Work

  • Manage day-to-day litigation tasks across multiple active matters, balancing competing deadlines and coordinating case activity with minimal supervision.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, written discovery, case-management filings, and other litigation documents with close attention to accuracy and efficiency.
  • Coordinate discovery and case-management obligations, track deadlines, and communicate clearly with clients about timing and next steps.
  • Support broader litigation strategy and case execution while working with attorneys and support staff toward defined objectives, including on short deadlines.
  • Contribute to ongoing litigation for institutional clients; tort and product liability matters may be part of the work but are not required experience.

What You Bring

  • At least five years of litigation experience; candidates with eight or more years are encouraged to apply.
  • Active admission to practice law in California and residency in California.
  • Experience in a mid-sized or large law firm and/or representing large institutional clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle everyday litigation responsibilities, including pleadings, written discovery, motions, and case-management filings.
  • Strong legal research, drafting, writing, communication, and organizational skills, with careful attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple active matters and deadlines independently while exercising sound judgment and maintaining responsive client service.
  • Admission to one or more federal district courts in California is preferred.
  • Tort litigation and/or product liability experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Availability to work an average of 30–35 hours per week, with flexibility to increase hours as needed, and to support West Coast hours remotely.

Why Consider It

This remote contract engagement offers a reduced-hours schedule averaging 30–35 hours per week, with an initial six-month term and a high possibility of renewal for successful candidates as the work is expected to remain relatively steady.

Attorneys receive access to precedent materials, templates, and training resources while taking direct responsibility for ongoing institutional-client matters.

The hourly range is $125–$150, commensurate with experience and skill level, and the position may be eligible for some benefits, including listed wellness and support programs.
