Position overview

Our client is seeking a junior- to mid-level associate to join a growing Transactional Tax practice in San Francisco. The opportunity is for an attorney with at least two years of law-firm experience focused on tax-related transactions, including significant experience with M&A.

The Work

  • Advise on tax issues arising in transactions, developing practical, commercially informed approaches to complex questions.
  • Contribute to tax analysis and structuring for M&A transactions and other transactional matters.
  • Support clients with tax matters connected to business operations as well as transactions.
  • Work with a range of clients, including multinational and domestic corporations, private equity funds, financial institutions, joint ventures, and emerging companies.
  • Collaborate with tax lawyers across offices and disciplines on client matters; the wider practice also advises SPACs and tax-exempt organizations.

What You Bring

  • At least two years of law-firm experience dedicated to tax-related transactional work.
  • Significant experience advising on tax aspects of M&A transactions.
  • Strong knowledge of transactional tax issues and the ability to analyze complex tax questions.
  • Ability to contribute to tax structuring and develop practical, commercial solutions for clients.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills suited to working with clients and colleagues across practices and offices.
