Position overview

Our client is seeking a junior to mid-level associate to join its growing Transactional Tax practice in Washington, D.C. The position is suited to an attorney with at least two years of law-firm experience dedicated to tax-related transactional work, including significant experience with M&A transactions.

The Work

  • Advise on tax issues arising in M&A transactions and contribute to tax analysis throughout the transaction process.
  • Assist with developing tax structures and practical, commercially focused solutions to complex transactional tax questions.
  • Work on transactional tax matters for clients that may include multinational corporations, financial institutions, private equity funds, domestic corporations, joint ventures, emerging companies, SPACs, and tax-exempt organizations.
  • Collaborate with tax lawyers across offices and disciplines on transaction-related tax issues and matters involving general business operations.
  • Support client advice across a range of industries, applying tax analysis to the needs and objectives of different organizations.

What You Bring

  • At least two years of law-firm experience focused on tax-related transactional work.
  • Significant experience advising on tax matters in connection with M&A transactions.
  • Strong understanding of transactional tax issues and tax structuring.
  • Ability to analyze complex tax questions and help develop practical, commercially minded solutions.
  • Experience working with clients and collaborating with colleagues across offices or practice disciplines is valuable.
