Our client is seeking an associate with at least three years of benefits and compensation experience to join its New York tax practice. The team advises on compensation, employee benefits, and employment issues across corporate transactions and company representations, working closely with clients and colleagues across offices and disciplines.
The Work
- Advise on executive compensation and employee-benefits issues arising in corporate transactions and company representations.
- Help tailor compensation arrangements in connection with mergers and acquisitions, including complex, large-scale transactions.
- Work on compensation and benefits matters related to capital-markets transactions, considering relevant tax and securities-law issues.
- Support clients on complex, multi-jurisdictional employment and employee-benefits matters.
- Contribute to plan-design work that accounts for tax and securities considerations and reflects commercial needs.
- Collaborate with colleagues in tax, securities, labor and employment, and corporate governance to develop practical workforce solutions.
- Work with a varied client base that includes financial institutions, private equity firms, emerging-growth companies, and businesses across industries.
What You Bring
- At least three years of experience in benefits and compensation.
- Experience with executive compensation and employee-benefits issues in a legal practice.
- Knowledge of compensation and benefits considerations in corporate transactions.
- Ability to analyze tax and securities-law considerations relevant to compensation arrangements and plan design.
- Experience or familiarity with employment and benefits matters involving multiple jurisdictions is relevant to the practice.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across legal disciplines and offices.
- Commercial judgment and an appreciation for market practice in developing practical client solutions.
