Our client is seeking an associate with at least one year of experience to join its Supreme Court & Appellate practice in Washington, D.C. Candidates must have completed an appellate clerkship and bring strong analytical, research, and writing skills. Associates may also contribute appellate litigation experience gained at a law firm or in government.
The Work
- Work on high-stakes appeals before the U.S. Supreme Court and federal and state courts of appeal, contributing to case analysis, briefing, and appellate strategy.
- Prepare and contribute to petitions for certiorari, merits briefs, and amicus briefs in significant matters.
- Collaborate with trial teams before cases reach the appellate stage, helping frame and preserve legal issues for potential appeal.
- Assist with complex litigation and dispositive motions in lower courts, including matters involving novel or challenging questions of administrative law.
- Contribute to litigation involving the U.S. government and matters across a range of industries and legal issues.
- Support work before regulatory agencies and appellate matters involving issues such as class actions and copyrights, as well as high-profile pro bono cases.
What You Bring
- At least one year of relevant experience.
- Completed appellate clerkship; this is a minimum requirement.
- Strong analytical ability and legal research and writing skills.
- Capacity to contribute to appellate briefing, including certiorari petitions, merits briefs, or amicus briefs.
- Appellate litigation experience at a law firm or in government is welcomed.
