Our client is seeking an associate with at least one year of experience to join its Supreme Court and appellate practice in Costa Mesa. Candidates must have completed an appellate clerkship and bring strong analytical, research, and writing skills. Associates with additional appellate litigation experience in a law firm or government setting are also welcome.
The Work
- Contribute to high-stakes appeals in federal and state appellate courts, working on legal analysis, case strategy, and written advocacy.
- Research and draft submissions for matters before the U.S. Supreme Court, including petitions for certiorari, merits briefs, and amicus briefs.
- Work on complex litigation and dispositive motions in trial courts, helping develop legal arguments and preserve issues for appeal.
- Collaborate with trial teams from earlier stages of a case to frame appellate issues and shape litigation strategy.
- Assist with disputes before regulatory agencies, including matters that present novel or challenging questions of administrative law.
- Work across matters involving a range of clients and issues, including disputes concerning copyrights and class actions.
What You Bring
- At least one year of experience in litigation or a related legal practice.
- Completion of an appellate clerkship is required.
- Strong analytical, legal research, and writing skills.
- Ability to contribute to appellate briefing, including research and drafting for complex legal issues.
- Interest in high-stakes appeals, trial-court motions, and litigation strategy.
- Appellate litigation experience at a law firm or in government service is welcome.
