Position overview

Our client is seeking an associate with at least one year of experience to join its Supreme Court and Appellate practice in Boston. The role offers substantive involvement in high-stakes appeals, key trial-court motions, and legal strategy, working collaboratively with appellate and trial teams.

The Work

  • Contribute to high-stakes appeals before the U.S. Supreme Court and federal and state appellate courts, developing persuasive arguments and supporting the preparation of appellate briefs.
  • Assist with petitions for certiorari, merits briefs, and amicus briefs in consequential matters across a range of legal issues.
  • Work with trial teams from the earlier stages of litigation to frame and preserve issues for appeal, and help shape legal strategy as matters progress.
  • Support complex litigation and dispositive motions in lower courts, as well as matters before regulatory agencies.
  • Help address disputes involving novel or challenging administrative-law questions, including litigation against the U.S. government.
  • Work on matters for a varied client base that includes major corporations, state governments, educational institutions, and individuals, with issues spanning areas such as copyright and class actions.
  • Contribute to high-profile pro bono matters as part of a practice handling appeals and litigation across a wide spectrum of issues.

What You Bring

  • At least one year of relevant experience.
  • Completion of an appellate clerkship is required.
  • Strong analytical, legal research, and writing skills.
  • Appellate litigation experience at a law firm or in government is welcome.
  • Ability to contribute to appellate briefs, certiorari petitions, and other written advocacy.
  • Interest in high-stakes appellate matters, trial-court motions, and legal strategy.

Compensation & Benefits

The provided compensation estimate is $225,000 base for the 2026 class; discretionary bonuses may be available depending on application circumstances and position.
