Our client is seeking an associate with at least one year of experience to join its Supreme Court and Appellate practice in Los Angeles. The role offers involvement in high-stakes appeals, significant trial-court motions, and legal strategy across a range of industries and legal issues.
The Work
- Contribute to appellate matters in the U.S. Supreme Court and federal and state courts of appeal, including research, briefing, and case strategy.
- Help prepare petitions for certiorari and merits briefs, and develop amicus briefing on consequential legal questions.
- Work with trial teams on complex litigation and dispositive motions, helping frame and preserve legal issues for appeal from the earlier stages of a matter.
- Assist with litigation against the U.S. government, including matters involving novel or challenging questions of administrative law.
- Support disputes involving a range of issues, including copyright and class actions, as well as high-profile pro bono matters.
- Contribute to complex litigation before regulatory agencies and other lower-court proceedings as part of a collaborative appellate practice.
What You Bring
- At least one year of legal experience is required.
- Completion of an appellate clerkship is required.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills are required.
- Ability to contribute to persuasive appellate briefing and legal analysis is important.
- Experience with appellate litigation in a law firm or government setting is welcomed.
- Experience or demonstrated interest in complex litigation, dispositive motions, or appellate strategy is valuable.
