Position overview

Our client is seeking a senior associate with at least four years of experience to join its Project Development & Finance practice in Washington, D.C. The practice represents lenders and sponsors in complex project financings across industrial sectors and geographies, combining technical transaction experience with industry, regulatory, and global perspectives.

The Work

  • Advise project lenders and sponsors on financing transactions, bringing an understanding of both sides of the table to deal structuring and execution.
  • Work with clients at the outset of matters to identify potential transaction pitfalls, assess opportunities, and develop practical solutions.
  • Help structure sponsor-side financings with terms and conditions intended to support financeability and ongoing commercial value.
  • Support lender-side transactions by positioning financings for successful syndication and addressing security and value considerations.
  • Contribute to the execution of complex project financings through closing, drawing on regulatory and industry-focused colleagues as needed.
  • Work on matters across industrial sectors and geographies, including power projects and transactions connected to the energy transition.

What You Bring

  • At least four years of experience as an attorney.
  • Experience in project development and/or project finance is preferred.
  • Experience at a large national or international law firm is preferred.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with project financing transactions and the interests of lender and/or sponsor clients.
  • Ability to assess transaction issues and contribute to practical financing structures and solutions.
  • Strong judgment and capacity to work on complex matters involving clients, regulatory considerations, and industry-specific issues.
