Our client is seeking a senior associate with at least four years of experience to join its Project Development & Finance practice in New York City. The opportunity involves sophisticated financings for project lenders and sponsors across industrial sectors and geographies.
The Work
- Advise project lenders and sponsors on financing transactions, contributing to the structuring and execution of matters from early issue-spotting through completion.
- Assess proposed transactions for potential pitfalls and help develop practical solutions that address legal, regulatory, industry, and commercial considerations.
- Work with colleagues focused on regulatory and industry matters to identify issues and opportunities relevant to project development and finance transactions.
- Support sponsor-side structuring, with attention to financeable terms and conditions that provide ongoing value to project sponsors.
- Support lender-side structuring and execution, including positioning transactions for successful syndication.
- Contribute to project financings across industrial sectors and geographies, including matters involving independent power projects and the energy transition.
What You Bring
- At least four years of legal experience.
- Experience in project development and/or project finance is preferred.
- Experience at a large national or international law firm is preferred.
- Ability to assess financing structures and identify potential legal, regulatory, and commercial issues.
- Strong transactional judgment and the ability to help develop practical solutions to complex project finance challenges.
- Ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues across regulatory and industry-focused disciplines.
- Knowledge of project finance considerations from a lender and/or sponsor perspective is valuable.
