Position overview

Our client is seeking an associate with 3–6 years of commercial real estate experience to join its Chicago practice. The role focuses on complex data center and digital infrastructure transactions, with opportunities to contribute to other real estate matters and collaborate across offices and practice groups.

The Work

  • Draft, review, and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, leases, joint venture agreements, development agreements, and financing documents for data center and other commercial real estate matters.
  • Support acquisitions, dispositions, and development projects involving data center assets and platforms, working with partners and deal teams through transaction execution.
  • Assist with hyperscale and colocation leasing arrangements, as well as ground leases, build-to-suit transactions, and other large-scale commercial leasing matters.
  • Coordinate due diligence, including title, survey, and project-level review, and help identify and manage diligence items through closing.
  • Collaborate with corporate, finance, tax, and energy and infrastructure teams on financing, M&A, tax, and other cross-disciplinary aspects of transactions.
  • Contribute to deal structuring and execution for domestic and cross-border matters involving real estate, infrastructure, and technology.

What You Bring

  • At least three years of commercial real estate transactional experience at a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Experience with acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, development projects, and/or real estate financings.
  • Ability to draft and negotiate principal transaction documents, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, and related agreements.
  • Experience managing or coordinating transaction due diligence, including title, survey, or project-level diligence.
  • Data center leasing, ground lease, build-to-suit, or other large-scale commercial leasing experience is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively across practice areas, including corporate, finance, and tax, with strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Commercial judgment and interest in the evolving digital infrastructure and real estate landscape.

Compensation & Benefits

The supplied estimated base range is $260,000–$390,000 and is an estimate, not firm-stated compensation.
