Our client is seeking an associate with at least three years of experience in private investment fund formation and related operational matters to join its Investment Funds practice in Washington, D.C. The position is open to qualified associates entering the fourth- through sixth-year class.
The Work
- Advise fund sponsors on the structuring and formation of private investment funds across a broad spectrum of asset classes.
- Support clients through fund fundraising, including the legal work involved in bringing private investment vehicles to market.
- Counsel sponsors on internal sponsor arrangements and the structuring and execution of co-investments.
- Handle fund operational matters and day-to-day corporate issues for asset managers.
- Advise on regulatory and compliance matters, including complex or novel issues affecting asset managers.
- Work with private capital managers across a range of stages and strategies, including established firms and emerging buyout, venture, and credit managers.
What You Bring
- At least three years of experience in private investment fund formation and related fund operational matters.
- Experience advising on the structuring and fundraising of private investment funds.
- Knowledge of fund operations, internal sponsor arrangements, and co-investments.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance issues affecting private funds or asset managers.
- Ability to support fund matters involving a broad range of asset classes and sponsor profiles.
- Strong legal analysis, drafting, and client-service skills appropriate to the associate level.
