Our client is seeking an associate with at least three years of experience to join a Redwood City team working across copyright, digital technology, and media. The practice advises clients ranging from startups to leading technology companies on consequential legal and business challenges.
The Work
- Advise technology and media companies on copyright questions arising from digital products, including product-design issues and strategies for compliance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
- Help clients develop rights-clearance strategies and structure digital media business models, including approaches to content catalogues, data and financial reporting, and user acquisition and retention.
- Contribute to federal copyright infringement litigation, including music-industry disputes and emerging cases challenging generative AI technology.
- Work on rate-setting matters before federal agencies, addressing the legal and commercial issues involved in copyright and content use.
- Support negotiations of business-critical content licenses and other copyright-related commercial arrangements.
What You Bring
- At least three years of legal experience, with experience relevant to copyright litigation, counseling, or transactions.
- Ability to assess copyright issues involving digital technologies and explain legal and business considerations to clients.
- Experience or demonstrated capability supporting litigation matters, including federal infringement disputes.
- Strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills applicable to complex and developing areas of copyright law.
- Ability to contribute to client counseling involving rights clearance, digital media business models, or content licensing.
- Interest in working across litigation, counseling, and commercial matters in the technology and media sectors.
