Position overview

Our client is seeking a transactional tax associate for its Redwood City team, where the work spans corporate transactions, investment funds, real estate and capital markets. The practice works closely with the corporate team and advises clients across a broad range of deal types and structures.

The Work

  • Advise on tax matters involving corporate mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, working alongside colleagues on a range of business transactions.
  • Support tax work for partnerships, limited liability companies and other joint ventures, advising on the structures involved in these arrangements.
  • Work on private equity transactions and fund formation, contributing tax advice across investment and fund matters.
  • Advise on real estate transactions, real estate fund formation and real estate investment trusts.
  • Contribute to venture capital transactions and fund formation, with exposure to the tax issues arising across these matters.
  • Work on tax aspects of financing and capital markets transactions and coordinate with the corporate practice as matters progress.

What You Bring

  • J.D. degree; candidates should be from the Class of 2022 or 2023.
  • Three to four years of experience in general transactional tax work.
  • Experience advising on tax matters in business transactions and investment structures.
  • Familiarity with transactional matters involving corporate deals, partnerships, LLCs or joint ventures.
  • Experience with or exposure to fund formation, private equity, venture capital, real estate, financing or capital markets matters is relevant.
  • Ability to work closely with a corporate practice and contribute to client advice across varied transactions.

Compensation & Benefits

An estimated base salary range of $260,000–$310,000, modeled on the 2026 Cravath base scale, is provided as an estimate and is not firm-stated compensation.
